🔥 Fire Marshal
The North Canaan Fire Marshal is responsible for promoting fire safety and ensuring compliance with state and local fire codes. Through inspections, plan reviews, and public education, the Fire Marshal works to reduce fire hazards and protect the lives and property of residents, businesses, and visitors.
Responsibilities include:
- Conducting fire safety inspections of commercial and public buildings
- Reviewing building plans for fire code compliance
- Investigating the cause and origin of fires
- Enforcing the Connecticut State Fire Safety Code
- Issuing permits for regulated activities such as open burning and certain public events
The Fire Marshal also serves as a resource for fire prevention education and safety guidance within the community.
