Inland Wetland and Conservation Commission

The Inland Wetlands Commission helps protect North Canaan's wetlands and watercourses while supporting responsible land use and development. Wetlands play a huge role in maintaining quality, reducing flooding, providing wildlife habitat, and preserving the natural character of our community.

The commission reviews certain activities and projects that may impact wetlands or watercourses to ensure they comply with state regulations and local ordinances. This process helps balance environmental protection with property rights and sustainable growth.

Meetings are open to the public, and residents are encouraged to attend, ask questions, and participate in the review process.
