Town Clerk & Registrar of Vital Statistics

The Town Clerk’s Office helps residents access important public records and town services. This includes recording land documents, issuing marriage licenses, dog licenses, fishing & hunting permits, providing certified copies of vital records (birth, death, marriage), and keeping the official archive of Town decisions and filings. The office also supports local elections and works to make voting and public participation secure and transparent.

We are committed to maintaining North Canaan’s historical records and making town government accessible to everyone.

Monday - 8:30AM-3:30PM
Tuesday - 8:30AM-3:30PM
Wednesday - 8:30AM-3:30PM
Thursday - Drop Off at Selectman's Office:
                  -Land Records Drop-offs
                  -Vault Access
                  -Certificate Request Forms
                  -Licensing Drop-offs
*Available by appointment or on call for time sensitive matters*
Friday - CLOSED
Open for Lunch
